Well Wenger agrees with you, he wants the replays to stay.
I think it's a pointless extra game, just get the result settled off the bat, I'm pretty sure the majority of fans would prefer that. If either our game or Spurs Palace is a draw this weekend then he Spurs game on the 2nd is off. That's bollocks to me.

One would imagine that contemporary footballers are fitter than those in the England team of 1966. Better training methods, dietary advice and sports medicine. Not to mention not having to play with footballs that were like medicine balls compared to the 'balloons' they use today. They also have breaks in the league programme to accommodate international matches.
And YET, despite being paid a 100 times more than the World Cup winning squad, they apparently need less games and more downtime.
FUCK OFF and MAN UP!!!!

Not a chance the xmas/new year programme would ever be scrapped in England, any break would be after the FA Cup 3rd round.
I would scrap repalys myself, and not just because it would mean less fixtures for some clubs but also because IMO I believe that most fans want to see an end result in a cup game, what's wrong with a penalty shoot out in the first game? I know there is the arguement about the smaller clubs missing out on revenues from another game but isn't there talk about the finances being changed where the smaller club would get more dough from the first fixture? Anyway, there won't be any changes for at least another 2 and a bit seasons..

Double headers, that's the answer.
Midday kick off in the first game, quick sausage chips and beans at 2:15pm followed by the 2nd game at 3pm
If it's good enough for Sunday League it's good enough for the Premier League

I'm guessing he means having to pay for football on top of the expense of Christmas, not the cost of the games themselves.

I am not saying what i am suggesting will work, well it could if they really have a problem with the number of games we play and they all desperately need a break.
Just a common sense solution as i see it, as you say though with cash and different people involved then i am sure it wont happen anyway, if it does then it will be for commercial reasons and nothing to do with the good of the fans.

would there be any problem fitting in another 3 or so full midweek games what with the various European commitments and League cup etc?
Less meaningless England friendlies may help!

Are we just talking about the premier league, they have squads of thirty or more players play less league games then anybody else. The likes of Carroll Sakho Valencia don't need anymore breaks than they're currently getting.Fucking hard life being a premiership player.

I'd be in favour of a winter break if it meant pre season was shorter.
3 months is a fucking long time without football.

That would mean you would have to get the FA to agree to scrap a game and why would they do that?
This is of course the problem we have in this country when the game is run by 3 separate bodies.

"another 10 days mini pre-season"
What do all the clubs do in pre-season... fly around the world playing friendlies... that is exactly what would happen. Guaranteed that Man Utd etc... would spend the Christmas break and Mini pre-season in the States playing friendlies against Barca and Real Madrid.
